Hey GlassDave ? on repair of chips on lifting strakes
Hey GlassDave,
What would be your recommendation for repairing the chips on the lifting strakes - I've ground them down with a dremel tool to check the fiberglass behind them - they seem to be ok - now what? LOL! One is about the size of a dime and the other is about 3 inches long
Thanks!

Use a 3M vinyl ester based filler if you want to re-gelcoat them, or better, use an epoxy filler and re-paint. You will not be able to use gelcoat over an epoxy repair. Dave will chime in.

I do like 3M's premium marine filler plus its good below the waterline. I also have a local supplier that has a snow white VE filler that really is some nice stuff and hard as f#&k when cured. its from Michigan Fiberglass and they do ship

cant remembered the number of it but it is their white styling filler.

Thanks GlassDave and ren3! Picked up some 3M premium marine filler and spent all Sunday grinding - filling - sanding and it came out GREAT! Previous owner let boat drift onto some rocks and had some 20 little chips along the lifting strakes - should be able to start gel coat process tonight!!!
