They seem like very nice people. I spoke to them for probably an hour about the two 47s they have for sale.I think both boats are very nice looking and Shogrens would do the same deal as I was offered on the other boat. I am just waiting for Total Dollar to give me a qoute on insurance. I got one qoute for over $12,000 from American Marine insurance. I almost crapped my pants. I pay under $2,000 a year now for my 2005 Fountain 38LX with triple 225 optimax. I want to go faster but an extra $10,000 a year just for the insurance? I was hoping to get insurance in the $5,000-$7,000 range for the 47. I guess I will find out next week what they say.

Mike, try giving Mid Missouri Yacht a call. I've got my insurance through them and they go through Merkel. Ask for Brandi Dye, she does the insurance. Her # is 573-302-0500. Her mom and dad have a big powered Fountain.

Good luck............Frank

Thanks for making me feel better. What power do you have? Did not know Allstate would do performance boats. Is Florida the only state that is getting screwed? Mike

Hey Driven,

To answer your question from earlier in the thread, yes, Matthew's boat is as clean as it looks. Scott and I were on it at the Key West to Islamorada Poker Run in February. The boat is super clean and the graphics look great, in my opnion. I think they were done by the Art of Design. Very unique. The boat kept up with a Cigarette 46 Rough Rider across Biscayne Bay. Matthew does take excellent care of his boats.

BTW, I pay $2300/year for insurance on my 2006 42 Executioner with 525's through Allstate here in TN.

BAD NEWS! John from Total Dollar called me today and said they can not do a new policy on that boat right now in Florida. Any other state they can do it. I am waiting for Bob from the "other performance" insurance company to call me back. If I can not get insurance on the boat I will not be able to buy it. Mike

Try these...

1) Call Bob Luellen @ worldwide. 800-339-1235
http://www.worldwidemarineins.com/

2) Call TOTAL DOLLAR ask for Sy Goldberg
1-888-226-4477.

You can also do a serach under "insurance".

1) Waiting for Bob to give quote.
2) Total dollar won't do it.
Do not know of anyone else that will insure in Florida. I have even called companies that claim to insure performance boats and they could not do it. False advertising?

Driven,
Open up a post in the general boating section of the forum about your insurance problem.
You'll get a lot of input from other OSO members.

Good luck, Chris

John from Total Dollar would not do it, but he was kind enough to refer me to someone who would. It is kind of scary that I am happy that the quote was "only" $8,383. But this is better than the only other quote of $12,300. None of the other companies I spoke to would do it in FLorida. It is a bad time to be living in Florida right now.

Also I am going to go look at the boat at Shogrens. Thanks to 10X for posting the pictures of it and taking the time to talk to me about it. It seems all of you liked this boat better than the Pier 57 boat ( Thanks Matthew for taking the time to talk to me about your boat). So I showed the two pictures to a higher authority (the wife). She said she liked Shogrens boat way better. So it looks like a maybe finally getting out of the performance fish boats that I have owned for 10 years (Concept 22, Donzi 29, and the current Fountain 38 LX). I can not sleep because I have always wanted a true performance boat but let the wife talk me into the other ones. Hope to be part of the team soon. Mike
