Default 38 EC - what's the boat like?

Considering moving from a 38 fever to the 38 express cruiser. Anyone have one? What are the +'s and -'s? The fever has been an awewsome boat, but looking for some creature comforts with a little speed?

Buddy of mine has a 2006 with diesels. The boat runs great and will run 47-50 all day long at about 18 gallons per hour. Regardless of how many people you cram on, there always seems to be enough room but the head gets full after all the girls use it. Now for the BUT. They have had huge problems with fit and finish items. Leaks from the AC, the enclosure, the cabin. Stuff falling off for no clamps, mostly stupid annoying things. Fountain has been real good about making things right, but it gets old finding new stuff wrong all the time. They also had an issue because they wanted the forward bulkhead/door and Fountain stopped doing that, there is a curtain now for the forward berth. The boat runs great and handles well, but I would look for an older one that the first owner got all the kinks out, especially cause I like the door too.

As an aside, another friend has a real nice 2004 (I think) with 496's for sale, I'll see if I can find a link.

I always thought that I would like one too. We always have a ton of people with us and they just seem like the ultimate party boat! How do they trailer?

I thought I would just add my 2 cents; I have the previous model, the 38 SC and we love it, we also have a lot of people with us and our 2 dogs on weekends, spend 2 nights on it almost every weekend and it is a great boat. I have a Manning Trailer and it trailers great. Now the EC is 2 feet wider and has a more accomodating cabin and cockpit area, only down side I see with the EC is the lower HP motors with most of them. I am hoping to find one with 502's some day and will most likley buy one if it is priced right, we need the aft cabin now that the wife and I had a little one early this year.
