When my 30 Excalibur Cat grows up it wants to be a 39 Express Cat. Beautiful boats. There is one docked at a marina about a mile from my house. It's been painted white, no graphics, with new white rubrails. 540s and Speedys. Every time I'm at that marina I hope to run into the owner and get a ride. How much power to run 100 mph in these boats?

Talking to Ross at Express he says approx. 700 hp. Yet to find out havent got mine wet yet. :)

To answer the question of how many horses to make a 39' go 100, you have to be specific about which era of 39' your talking about. The early models were a little heavy, then got progressively lighter. Early model 39's close to 1000 horse per side, middle run 39's - 800-850, later ones about the same. I'd like to do one with the new laminate schedule w/ twin 1000's and watch it hit the 130+ mark. BUT, since we have the new 38' (with twin 750 horse 540's) running at over 120 (and still not dialed in on props yet!)Why go back in time??? Dated looks (not bad, just dated) and dated design.
The new 49' will run 100mph with a 5 year powertrain warranty, shiftable two speed trans, and bulletproof drive system, all with diesel engines...(SPELLED $1.10 per gallon, not $3.00 per gallon!) We should have the first one in the water at smoke on the water 02' Good meeting glassdave and tizbad (i saw that dash!!!! don't worry, we'll put it on the bill!) Later A ;) [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Adam Focht ] |
