I had a 22ZX with 540 HP and she ran in 80s. Definetly hook up external steering, after 72 the boat gets to be a handfull and once you hit 80 the wheel wants to lock up Once I installed hydraulic she was fine.

Ok.... Update... It looks like I am going to ditch my attempts at adding a Captain Call and just go straight through transom. This will save me some $ by selling the Corsa Captains Call I had purchased off e-bay.

I am actively looking for a used set of exhaust manifolds (ie: Stainless Marine) for 1k.

My motor now:
Chevy Bowtie Block
502 Marine HP Heads (Fresh springs and conical valves)
Roller Rockers BB 1.7 "PRO SERIES"
Edlebrock Airgap RPM intake manifold
SRP lightweight flat tops
Dimple Rods
Holly 850 Double Pumper

Anyone want to make a HP estimate???

I have a Bravo 1 outdrive with a Mirage 25P prop (Sorry guys I misread… swore it was a 26P)

I purchased some insta-trim heavy duty dual piston trim tabs for added control…

I am thinking that I will add the Zeiger add on Single Ram hydraulic steering system for added control and safety from CPP… when I have more money I can buy the “inside kit” (about $1,300) to go full hydro. Ugh at the cost..

You guys are awesome! I appreciate the support and I will post some pictures of Iraq when I get there (I can show you some from my first tour if your interested)… until then I GREATLY appreciate all the help in getting my new Money Pit water worthy!!

search the Technical Q/A fourm for threads on Revolution Marine exhaust.......there are several.......the general consensus seems to be best overall bang for the buck.......1-2 mph and fully polished for a grand???.......not bad!!!

Ok another question... the engine was built and balanced without the flywheel... now to add the flywheel what do I need to do?

Id think that steering system will be plenty beefy for your setup , its all about getting the loads off the gimbal and the cheesy little factory arm.
Thanks for your service to our country

Ok... still need some input on what I need to do with my flywheel. The engine was balanced and built without it... what do I need to do about my flywheel?

Tore the Scarab apart tonight... wow... when you pull all the panels off you see what a shotty job they do putting it together... sloppy cuts in the fiberglass...etc. I am close to having the engine pulled out of it, then comes the hard part...

I will swap the accessories over to my new 502... I have to install the Trim tabs and the Hydro Steering. To my suprise I have rack and pinion steering (So I gues that is a partial internal hydraulic)... Still waiting on the Holley 850 and intake, exhaust manifold will be purchased this weekend.

I am pulling our the through prop exhaust and installing through transom... what do I need to do to cap the old through prop setup?

Thanks guys!!
