As the owner of a 15 year old Golden Retriever, I'm getting close to feeling your pain and dreading it.

Kurt, sorry to hear of your loss. There's nothing anyone can say or do to make anything better for you. I know exactly how you feel, as I lost 4 of my best hunting buddies all in one year to cancer. Reading this brings a tear to my eye, cause I can feel what you're going through right now.

I have my crazy chocolate lab peacefully sleeping at my feet, and my black lab is already asleep down the hall in the bedroom. I can't imagine going to stand up and not tripping over one of them, or not having them stare at me and stomping, huffing, and staring at the refrigerator for more food! May all of your little buddies rest in peace. They are in a happy place playing together now.

Bob, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your buddy too. Dogs are such incredible friends. I really like dogs better than people!

Thanks so much for your understanding and compassion. Monroe was only 10 and still looked like a pup. We knew he would not live forever but we thought there were many years left. He was fine a week ago, he rode with me to Lake Winnipesaukee last wednesday. I miss him terribly.

Hang in there Biggus, Sounds like Monroe had a great life. Sorry for your loss. My eyes are wellin up at the thought of losing my best friend.

Kurt, like I said earlier, I'm sorry for your loss and I have felt your pain.
I have read every post on this one and I have made my daughter read them also, she use to think I was crazy for paying to be a member of a web site to talk to other boaters that I have never met.
After reading all of the post on this one and loosing her very best friend, buster a yellow lab, I think she is changing her mind about this site, but she would never admit it to though. She also noticed that most of the people here have Labs, she said, you guys are all alike.
