New 800 HP engine/drive package debuts in Miami

Rtech Performance is supplying a new supercharged engine to Konrad Marine for use with the ACE drive package. Konrad Marine is well known for their TRS and Bravo replacement drives but this engine/drive package is aimed at the new boat market.

The 540 CID tall deck engine will fit in the same length as an Ilmor V-10 and is lower than a Mercury 700. Conservatively rated at 800 HP, the engine features a forward facing Vortech centrifugal blower and large intercooler, a "little brother" to our twin blower system, also shown below.

Rtech will provide the supercharger system, EFI components and MEFI4B engine management to the program. The engines will be assembled and tested at Sterling Performance.

When Biggus gets back from Miami he will post more photos from the Konrad booth.

It will be a nice package if the warranty is a year and the price is right, The package complete will need to be in the 50-55k range .

Hi Tom;

Same questions as before... How much taller is it than the Merc 525. Are those headers the standard 23" above C/L. What are the fuel requirements for it. Is the power delivery slow and soft like a turbo, or is it instant like a S/C.

Mark

Kurt from Konrad knows the pricing better than I do, so I'll let him answer those questions.

Hi Mark: The headers are the standard height of 23" above crank C/L. We are 12" above the block, which is 2" higher than the 525 but it doesn't matter because we are the same height as the headers. Fuel required is 91 octane.

Belt driven centrifugal blowers fall in between turbos and positive displacement superchargers for low RPM response, but if you nail it when you're cruising at 3000 RPM, the response is instantaneous and every bit as strong as any positive displacement blower. It would make a great package in the Tuff 28.

Would make for a cool name of a boat:

Aces and Eights!

Deadman's hand.

Thanks Tom,

So am I to understand that the highest point of the entire package is not higher that the headers? Where does the motor pull in it's air? Does it go in the center of the S/C?

Mark
