Marc,
I was in the first two Smoke On The Water Poker Runs and enjoyed them immensely, especially the "Make A Wish" ride!
So I was very disappointed to hear that this irresponsible boat owner operator and his sleazy lawyer have initiated this suit.

This statement in the Fox 17 report is especially disturbing:
"Morse sued the Poker Run, claiming among other things, that the organizers had a duty to legally protect the boaters from lawsuits."

What planet is this jerk from????
He signed the waiver form. The OPERATOR is responsible for any passengers on his boat, and is also responsible to make sure his passengers sign the waiver!
How is a poker run organizer supposed to "protect" an IDIOT like this guy from lawsuits? He's the moron who flipped the boat and killed those two guys.

Do you have a "defense fund" started, I'd like to contribute!!!!!!

This will haunt the @sshole forever, no amount of money will help. Total negligence and incompetence, another example of too much bank account too little brains!

Hopefully a moral judge throws it out and lets him know that the responsibility was all his. Maybe he'll take his own life!

I understand there is a pending suit, but why does that have to cancel the event?

Because with a pending law suit they can't get insurance for the event. You can't run an event like SOTW without insurance.

I also have a feeling that their energy is drained trying to fight it:(

A judge will more than likely rule in their (SOTW) favor HOWEVER, in the meantime it takes great resources $$$ to defend yourself.

Marc, if you need a witness with all your legal stuff I am willing to give a statement on your behalf. I actually saw the boat roll/flip as well that day. Mark

What is the latest info on this suit? How are things going? I found this today.....

$3 million awarded to spouse of passenger on a high speed boat which made too sharp a turn on Lake Michigan during the Michigan "Smoke on the Water Poker Run" resulting in his death.
