I am in the same position as UThustler. I am in the market for my first offshore boat. I was mainly looking for a 38, but may go down to a 35 fountain. There are a couple that i have found with 496's, but i have not found any with 525's. Or at least in my price range (100k). Really want a a/c also.
What is the cruise and top speed of a 35' fountain or other brand with 496's vs 525's.
One thing for sure, my insurance co will not insure over 900hp. At 900 hp, a 100k boat would cost 1500/yr full coverage.
I heard of others paying over double with 500 efi.

Air Conditioning. I live in Louisiana, and a cabin is useless over here without an air conditioning. The fountains have shore powered air conditioning for sure, but there are not many for sale with this option. I have not found one fountain either a 35 or 38 with a generator and air conditioning.
Plenty of formula's, no fountains

If you guys are looking for a Fountain you need to call Matthew Smith at Peformance Boat Brokerage (www.performanceboatbrokerage.com). He has Fountains in all different years and sizes. Give him a call 573-206-4178.

That boat should run low to mid 70's. A 29 with the same power is actually faster and carries 130 gallons of fuel compared to the 27's 60 or 70 gallons (can't remember exactly) Fountains are fast, but there are better rough water boats out there. It all depends on where you do your boating as well. What kind of water you'll be in that is. If you want to trade some mph, you might want to think about a 292 Formula. Powered by twin 6.2's, it's easy to insure, warrantied power, heavier boat than the Fountain and it's fit and finish is top-notch. They run about 70 or so on a good day.
