sounds like some Tomfoolery to me. Is this an example of the Golden Rule?

On or about the last lap, when Reliable was in the lead, they pulled off the course and radioed to race control that they had an engine go down........

But, I did hear there were some protesting because the course was longer than it was supposed to be and one team that I know of (bounty hunter) ran out of fuel and they were doing really good!

That sucks, but that is racing.

To me, Talk n Trash are still winners. To be that competitive with a new boat and newly formed team right out of the box is just incredible ! Especially to be running up against JD Byrider, Reliable Carriers and Jay Muller in Wicked who all have years of racing under their belts..

If nothing else they gave the crowd an awesome show to watch !!!

I'm curious to see the Official results and what the explanation will be.

At what limit do they say the course is too long??? I mean, we're talking about the ocean with currents, winds etc..... If it's 1/4 - 1/2 mile longer that's kinda silly.... 10+miles ok....I see...

common fellas, put enough fuel in the boat, maybe a little extra... :(

I heard in the range of 16 miles too long....

So another 80 or100 pounds of fuel would have done it.

Do the winning boats need to return to port under their own power??? I was under the impression if they're towed in it's an auto DQ? If so, they also need a little extra fuel to idle back the almost 20 minutes to the haul out lift.....

I have no sword in this fight but I don't think every course is exact and most of the teams I spoke to at the last race, where the course was significantly longer, said they always have extra fuel for that reason... :drink:

I know competition is tight and everyone wants to get a little advantage but fuel management is also part of endurance racing isn't it? :food-smiley-007:

I was in the wet pits (for everything) but heard alot (not gospel just from talking to a few different people) i think the course was 2 miles too long. I think they do have to finish to win. I think all teams anticipated the ride out and back but didn't anticipate the length of the course. if they were just counting laps 5 laps is already ten miles. some guys ran out on the way back from what i heard
