The CATS:

I am sure I have more somewhere, but they would need to be dug up and scanned...

Thanks Sharkey! Is it possible that the red one in pics 6&7 are of my boat? Now I see that most of them had no windshield. After I get the new engines and drives in I might take it over to Hydra and see what they can do with a sleaker designed windshield. Thanks for your help. Bill Redmond in Philly.

Is yours a 36 ?

Most likely not. That was this boat coming just out of the molds:

I am thinking you might have Wherlen Brothers old boat. Straight pleasure solid red.

fireboatpilot 10-19-2009 06:08 AM

Your right! It's a 32', I bought it from Larry about a year and a half ago. They reconfigured it from pleasure to race before I got it. They own Kurt's performance now. The son Andrew runs the place but Kurt is still around next door. Nice call and thanks again!

I do not personally know Mr. Tresch, my father did. He is a local guy, maybe he can give you insight on Hydratech cats.

My father and I raced (four or five mile drag race from a 60 mph start) a 30' Hyrdatech with twin 2.4 Mercury outboards through Longport Inlet (NJ) in the early 1990's, and smoked it pretty good in a 84 mph 27' Magnum. I was impressed that the Hydratech did not do too bad in the sloppy water going through the inlet to the Ocean.

the hairy canary?

It looks like these front decklines are from a Hydratech too, probably rounded off in the back ,but still ....

Yes sir.

He raced anyone that would run him. Won some, lost some, had fun all the time. I miss those days....

i think that your hydra tech was always a pleasure boat my friend mark use to work for larry, charlie and drew sr and did a lot of work to it, i used to keep my boat there on a lift and ive had several rides in that boat . that boat came with stock 454's and bravos with a full interor and a plush cabin, even had a refrigerator behind the drivers seat. driver and passenger sat next to each other like some old 10 meter fountains. cool boat back in the late 80's. i think its an 88 if im not mistaken. i like the windshield u have , i saw them built that windshield, the original one was just a piece of plexiglass going straight accross the front, nothing special.

Chip Morgan ran that smokey and the bandit boat for years in the chesapeake bay that was a great boat. It was sold to a guy in Ohio who sold it again not sure who has it now.
