I've got a turbo or two for you boys! The 2 of them make 50+lbs of boost on my little 5266ci gas motor.

I'm still trying to fit two of these in my engine compartment maybe by the end of the poker run I will get them to spool?

Where we go'in here?

This thread is starting to slip back out in the deep cosmos again. I thought we were talking about Merc's new 1300 turbo engine here??
As for power, word is Mercury already has made 1700HP with this engine on race fuel and a different tune so I guess the turbos are up to the assignment as is unless they upgraded those also. I guess this seasons racing will expose what Mercury has up their sleeve with this offering, especially overseas in P1 and such.

As for gear talk and rotary engine I would suggest you guys start a new thread. Some readers here may be getting a little lost in the diversion talk? Its great discussion, information and cool pics, but its a little off subject in this thread.

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

I wonder how long it will take them to work all the bugs out of it that they are having so they can release it for sale?

and the 1700 hp thing is a hypothetical number that they were told to tell people at the show...

keep in mind race fuel will not have the same effect on this engine as on a normal engine... should not increase the hp much at all...

I read earlier in the thread about Merc having their butt kicked by Ilmore in P1 and how this engine will obviously come out fighting to showcase what Merc is capable of doing, however I can't see how this engine will race in P1 in either 1300HP form or 1350HP with forced air intakes, because P1 as far as I know only allow double engine installations and 2600hp or 2700hp would at their weighting rules ie ... ( 3.5KG per HP ) make the boat a whale in race boat terms coming in at either 9100KG or 9450KG against the rest of the fleet in the 4500-4900KG range

Raylar

Whats the story on 2011 EPA regs, i.e. the ones delayed from this year?
Will you have cat conv's on your engines next year or will Merc?

Cheers

Uh. Mercury won P1 in 2009 -- and received the P-1Manufacturer's Award for beating all comers in Evolution class.

Not much info available about the motor components used on Mercury 1300/1350 turbo motor.

Is the block Chevy based or a custom design? Who made the block, heads and intake? How are the cams driven?

According to the Miami Boat Show introduction, Mercury Racing designed and will manufacture all components. I asked the cam question, too: the cams are chain driven.

Good thing not belt driven....munch munch, have your valves for lunch.
