Not a problem for me....... 28' Skater and trailer less than 5000#....but, what a finagle this is. The V-5 apparently is for 5000# and not class 5......

Well I love the truck any way 110,000 miles and growing daily, and so far the hitch hasn't fallen off.....but!

Battling it out with Ford delaership right now. They finally said, what is it going to take to make you happy. I gave them two options, 1. put a non Ford class V hitch on(they are worried about installing a non ford factory hitch) or 2. Buy me a full weight distributing set up. I will know ofr sure tomorrow and will post my results.

Get a drawtite brand or buy a chevy:D :D :D

This thread got me to look at my 2001 4x4 F250 PSD.
My hitch says Ford V-5 max trailer load 10,000 max tongue 1000.
Looked under the truck and it is attached with about 5 bolts per side.
Thoughts?

Mack 312 just went through the same thing with his new Sub. no class 5....But chevy made good on it !!!!!! 2000 F-250 PSD...first ford i ever owened.......this hitch thing realy pissed me off !!!!! yhey put a big V-5 on it what are ya suppoosed top think ??? I hate to even think off what i have towed with it!!!!!

I agree Troutly but.........when the salesman {MORON} tells you class 5 & you walk by & see a big V & 5 you just kinda asume........cant tell me some-one at ford isnt aware of this???!!! almost seem like......you know?

Hidden Hitch makes a top notch product. You will have NO worries at all with one of their hitches. I have been using them for quite some time now in my shop and they are a wonderful company to deal with. You should know what I mean being in business for yourself.

If you want, I will double check the part # they are putting on for you to make sure it is the correct rating?

Well, inally got some kind of an answer. My dealership does not want to put a non ford factory hitch on my f350 for liability reasons, so....they are buying me the load distributing receiver set up. Then I will go out and buy a real hitch for the back. Not really what I was looking for, but it is better than nothing. My trailer is set up with electric brakes, not surge, so the distributing receiver will owrk for me. Good Luck.

yeah, I heard that it is another 15 minutes or so. For any short distance trips I will probably just hook the straight mount up, any long distance trips I will use the distributing hitch. At least I got some degree of satisfaction. I friend tows with the distributing set up, not out of necessity but out of desire. He tells me once you tow with this set up you will not tow any other way. He tells me he has so much more confidence and control.:)

I understand what Ford is doing with the Hitch situation, but I don't agree. I guess what they are telling us is that if the GCWR is 12,500#'s for the F-350 and you have 1,000#'s of fuel, cargo and passengers (plus the weight of the truck 7,000#'s) then you basically can tow (legally) 4,500#'s. Ford's hitch is rated for 5,000#'s, so they are covered. But, people (including myself) tow way over 5,000#'s with this truck and that's where the problem is. I would think that all the other makers would have the same problem?? Does Chevy, GMC and Dodge install a class 5 hitch?? If this is a problem with all the manufacturers, then all of us who tow 7,000#'s--15,000#'s have to buy a Topkick or a Freightliner?? WTF?
