After eavsdropping on some peoples conversations prior to them asking "what do you do for a living?", I have actually told more than a couple of people, "I sling drugs". It seems like that answer made some of them feel good, like they knew that's what it had to be. And then they sort of back away, like I could be dangerous.

When they ask how much, I usually tell them how much it would cost to replace it with the latest model, around $250k. That's about how much a new 35' Cigarette would cost

Talking ill third the great post

Its amazing how stupid people can be when they ask how much your boat costs

I can't say I've had this experiance personally , but being 18 and touring around in a fast boat i do get my fair share of (unjustified) dirty looks. Mosty from older people that think i should be rowing an inner tube or enjoying a 1970's bow rider like themselves ...... anyway... there have been lottsa good idea's about dealing with ppl asking the $$ question...... ill hafta remember that when i get a boat that costs more than the average family car

Hey Nort, speaking of it being her's....here's a good one-

I don't know how much it was, it's my wife's ex-husbands.

Or I like Gary's idea, I don't remember I sold a few keys and then went and bought it with the proceeds, by the way my name is Gueedo and you are???

What's your annual income??? This one is the best.

This is a great post. I have never told ANYONE how much I paid for my boat. My friends are always trying to pry it out of me. I usually tell anyone who asks" ALOT, and if I didn't have enough money and could give my left leg, I WOULD. (and if there are any gasps or anything) You'ld understand if you were a true boater."

After reading these posts I may just try a few. To BADA BING's reply "I don't now, it's my wife's ex-husband" That's GREAT!!

Hey Tee, Why don't you just use your tag line

"If it weren't for women and boats.......I'd be a rich man"

I think thats excellent. Especially since I have a wife, two daughters and a boat

Another one could be "I don't know. You'll have to ask my wife, she bought it"
