Nicky Cutro of Boardwalk/Pennzoil fame raced one back in the late 80's. It was a loaner after his Shadow cat caught fire. It had two big OMC's on the back...he was not impressed with a single thing about the boat. I remember he came idling back into Key West harbor on one motor, dragging one of them behind as the motor mount broke. Maybe they were better pleasure boats...

There was a Maelstrom called "Whiplash" that was a New Jersey boat many years ago, the original owner used to be on OSO in the beginning, he was/is a chiropractor (Dr. Otto Fisher), maybe he will join in to give you some insight, or anyone that rode in "Whiplash." I do not know Dr. Fisher personally but I have seen him in his boat(s).
