Always had Alpha drive boats that more or less self drain with the engine being the exception.
around me get caught by the epa or the county sheriff using ethylene glycol will get you a hefty fine..and if its transported to the local water way then ?? your supposed to use propylene glycol for marine base engines.. i use the 200 below from boat us.always been goo for me and my customers..

Eh, it's biodegradable. More to the point is that it does funny stuff to rubber.

That is what I didn't know of. I would never spill ethylene glycol on the ground

I used pink RV last winter in my 496 and it survived, but I'm pretty sure I developed an ulcer worrying about it on the really brutal days....

Pink!!! I do an experiment every year with my kids. We take a pickle jar and fill it with water to the brim and cap it. We leave it outside next to the garage and forget about it. Usually at the end of December or beginning of January when no one is expecting it we here a loud bang. We then know that was the day that all the un winterized engines cracked. Last year I filled a second one with pink antifreeze. It never froze.

I run 5 gallons of pink-50 thru mine then I run 2 gallons of -100. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-m...04_134_004_500

I can get this at our local autoparts store for $7 a gallon. Let me say if you still have some water in there after doing your pink IE thermostat doesnt open, then your going to crack your block. Why take a chance? We get nights that are -35 and can go a week and not go above 0. I dont want to worry.
