Everyone seems to reference pink anti freeze RV but why not use ethylene glycol for cooling systems.I have personally seen pink turn to slush but slush is not ice.Is ethylene glycol ok?Automotive cooling system coolant has corrosion inhibitors that would be beneficial I would think.
Always had Alpha drive boats that more or less self drain with the engine being the exception.

Pink!!! I do an experiment every year with my kids. We take a pickle jar and fill it with water to the brim and cap it. We leave it outside next to the garage and forget about it. Usually at the end of December or beginning of January when no one is expecting it we here a loud bang. We then know that was the day that all the un winterized engines cracked. Last year I filled a second one with pink antifreeze. It never froze.

I run 5 gallons of pink-50 thru mine then I run 2 gallons of -100. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-m...04_134_004_500
I can get this at our local autoparts store for $7 a gallon. Let me say if you still have some water in there after doing your pink IE thermostat doesnt open, then your going to crack your block. Why take a chance? We get nights that are -35 and can go a week and not go above 0. I dont want to worry.
