Default Help with some options on new boat

My wife and I are long time boaters, but sold our last boat in May , it was a 30 ft sailboat that we owned and used heavily for 5 years. We used to do long weekends and weeks in bimini nassau and the keys.. The last year and half we have been busy trying to grow our bussiness and have had less time to take a trip to bimini when it's 8-10 hours each way. So we sold the boat since we were paying 650 a month to keep it at the dock and not using it. We miss having a boat and have decided to look into our options. We are new to power boats except for playing on friends small center consoles or inflatables. We are looking for something that can cruise around 40 on a nice day ( bimini is 50 miles or so). We would like something that won't break in half if it kicks up out there. We were spoiled with the sail boat if the motor broke you could sail if the sail came down you could motor, so I'm looking at twin engine boats only for the reduncey of twin motor . We would like to be able to carry 4-5 people with weekend gear on the boat but only need the boat to sleep the 2 of us, if we have guests we can get a hotel.
And lastly the boat can't be over 26 feet, my driveway space is limited. Budget is under 14k but prefer to be under 10 and put the other 4+ into upgrades on the new boat. I really like the formula 242 but twin engine ones are rare and most are beat up or people think they are worth 20k. Looked at a wellcraft nova but didn't like the boat as much as the formula. Found a sweet formula 272 but it won't fit the driveway and if I have to pay storage mine as well to bigger....What do you guys have for me for options?

Won't find much twin under 27. The 242 is a rare one. Older nova 250s talkin 70s. Then you hit the 26-27 Novas and formula 272s. Might find a center console twin outboard boat. Plus for a "nice" twin engine boat 14 is on the low side.

I tell ya what I had a mid 80's Chris Craft 260 Scorpion and i loved it. very very roomy boat and had twin small blocks, ran right around sixty and I wouldnt hesitate to do that run in my old boat. They can be had in that price range no prob, I see my old boat often the guys had it for six years or so now who knows maybe he's ready to move up. I had soooooo much fun with boat just for what it was, simple turn key and well laid out.

Dave. We had a wellcraft nova growing up. 87. Friend of ours had 86 scorpion. Almost mirror image boats. Very similar.

Keep an eye out for a 28 Sonic. They were not the best balanced boats as they have a tendency to porpoise, but that can be overcome with trim and prop selection. The really are only 26' or so feet long with a molded in platform making it 28' feet overall.

A friend had a custom trailer made a tad shorter for his 30' Baja so it would fit in his garage. That also resulted in the rear tires of his truck being wet when he launched. You will need to 4x4 tow vehicle if this regularly happens to you, especially in Florida with the slick algae ramps and tides. You can also get a folding tongue added or made into your trailer, but be certain it's up to par with regard to the weight you are towing.

I think Wellcraft also had a 24 with twin V 6's, may have been in the Nova line. I've also had boats with trailers that were actually shorter then the boat (ball was just about under the tip of the nose) towed and worked great.

There is a 24 Saber on facebook in the powerboat swap shop with twin small blocks on Alphas that looks interesting and it is very well priced at 8K. May be worth checking out . . .

I have no idea how to link directly to the actual ad but it is listed by JR Williams at 513-628-5545
