Ran into Steve Miklos at an engine shop in Florida today........How come guys like us don't go to the beach on a beautiful 80 degree day, instead of hanging around the dyno?
Anyway, Steve is a veteran of our previous Miami to Bimini races and is looking forward to the August race. He has some great plans for his boat on how to get a bit of an edge on the competition. Looking forward to any other boats in his class coming out.
By the first of next week, we will have entry fees and other information firmed up as to parties, dinners, etc.
Right after the first of the year we will have rules in place and firm classes...... so the planning can begin.

Sometime next week..... HORBA..... will be opening up it's own membership on here under the name of......... HORBA.
We are going to switch this thread..... over to that new account...... and will have all the latest re entry fees, rules, classes, safety equipment etc.
So after nearly 24,000 views here, plus a lot of personal emails and phone calls, we have determined there is a real interest in this kind of open ocean water, point to point, racing event again.
We look forward to putting this event on and feel there is more of these types of events to come during the year.
With the exception of this race at 271 miles to honor Don Aronow, the other races will be 100 miles in length for the smaller classes and 200 miles in length for the larger classes.

You do not need to have the fastest boat in your class.
Be smart and well prepared and you will finish, and by finishing you will do well.
Think of it as a once in a lifetime event you can tell your grandkids about. Yup, Granpa actually did it and lived to make up stories about how fast he was!!!!!!

Class D can have anything from a twin engine 28 twin engine Magnum or Cigarette against a 29 Super Vee lite single
There are too many variables in Class D, that would end up with three or more classes, if we split them up.
Don't worry the ocean will sort them out and make them equal in the end.
