I had a coil do that to me it would heat up and get weak it would not restart the engine if I turned it off after hard runs had to let it cool down before it would restart

If I turn the boat off and let it sit a while, then try again, it will be back at 4300-4500 for a short while.

Any idea what is causing this?

Here's my boat's build thread for reference:

My guess would be that it's that penis that you etched into the underside of your intake manifold in post#10 of your build thread.

I think the others might have you on the right track of checking for ignition related issues. Maybe you can find a known good coil, ignition module, and maybe ignition pickup to try (one at a time) to see if that corrects it.

Falling RPM is a sign of detonation no? If you let it detonate long enough to get hot, it could mirror the ideas above of parts expanding etc.

the best way to fix your problem is to sell me the boat.
