You can run a Imco helmet on an ITS set up but you can not run a Imco Gimbal Ring. The steering rams connect directly to the Merc ITS Gimbal Ring, Imco does not offer a gimbal ring that the steering rams connect directly to. As far as strength, I am told the Imco is stronger but the only failures in Super Vee Class racing have been Standard Bravo HP Gimbals and the Imco setup. Snowy Mountain Brewery, that never lost a race in 3 years, ran an ITS. The JD Byryder Fountain also ran a ITS with no failures. I am currently building a SV Race Boat and am using the ITS. If you are building a pleasure boat with that kind of power, I would feel comfortable with the ITS!

I have the ITS set up with the IMCO helmets and ITS gimbal rings and it has been a great package. Before I did the SCX conversions, I blew up three Xr drives in as many years. (running 700 hp/side) I did the conversion and went 5 years with out a problem. Last summer I finally locked one up into drive and had to have it rebuilt. Not sure why it let go but it was getting harder and harder to shift and I though it was a linkage issue (I had a few other previous linkage issues) My mistake for not catching it sooner I guess but the other drive looked damn near brand new when we went through it.

Thanks for the input . I'm gonna go with the ITS . Mercury has an availability date of March 15 so hopefully I'll be able to get one then . Can somebody help me find a picture of a SCX on a ITS ?

You know the snowy mountain SVL 29 has the ITS and Brian Forhan drives it like he stole it every time he's behind the wheel . Last time I saw the boat it had over 800hp and was running 125 mph

What is Mercury charging for a new ITS now? I was last told around $8300. I have 2 ITS's fresh from rebuild by Collabella Performance (Mercury Racing's Lake X Drive Builder) and I only need one. These are complete rebuild to racing standard for my Super Vee Boat. If you are interested I will sell one complete ITS for $4500 plus shipping!
Let me know if you're interested.

777offshore I sent you a text . Quinlan that's just showing off lol ! Ive seen several SCX's. I just wanted to see how bulky they look on the ITS . I just don't want that Bmax look that looks like a sender block bolted on a transom .

Take a look at this thread here. Theres a couple pics of the SCX on the ITS (on a twin). I don't think it looks out of place like a big bmax.
