Did you have to install the reverse lockout selonoid too? What about what they say about puncturing the diaphram in the actuator? Do you have to do this, is it hard to do?

Discs are great! Even if you have one freeze up due to salt & rust, it takes about 15 minutes to replace the caliper.

I second championtrailer.com. Get the phone number and call them. They were very helpful. I went with stainless rotors and bronze calipers. No problems ever. They will know what you need to do to make it right and they have all the parts.

I did a single axle of my 27' tandem trailer and noticed
a 30% better stopping distance, this spring I will add the second Tie down kit to the rear axle With Electric over Hyd This will give me better braking control. I hope for a total improvement of 40-60% over the Single drum system. I had good luck with the Tie Down system they run a little hotter than Id like but thats going to change with My switch from chrome steel to Aluminum wheels. The Kodiak Vented Disc System is nice too and is a great choice for those who tow a lot and are a bit aggressive in there driving. And with either of these system's I recommend a 15 minute cool down before Launching. |
I was gonna put them on my trailer, cause it does not have brakes. I realized the axle did not have plates on it to bolt the brake assemblies onto. So i looked into buying a new axle, then I would replace the springs and shackles anyways. It got way to exepensive just for putting brakes on.. So I just bought a big truck that could stop the trailer without brakes :D :D :D

Disc is the only way, every trip over 500 miles I had to stop and
adjust brakes with drums. Four yrs on disc and have never touched them, plus it stops 50% better. |
No Brakes, I hope your using a dually 1 ton
