How well do the drives on outboards hold up?
What are the OB problem areas?
How about maintenance?
The motors are easy to get too, but how often do you need to work on them?

I think the 250efi are more reliable. The Optis cost much more, need better gas, use more oil and I hear the lower end and mid range performance is not as good as the efi. Don't know if that's true but I'm sure OSO people will know. The OPTI's only are good for 3 mph over EFI. Typhoon Marine has a 36 with 250 OPTI's and it runs 63-65. My EFI's run 62.2 on GPS. Either way you can't lose. Another thing to check is the warrantees. I got a lifetime on the hull and 5 years on the motors. No wrenches for me for five years. What will I do with all that extra time?

Don't think you will go wrong with EFI's or Opti's. We will splash our 29ZF with Optis tomorrow for a Sat Poker Run. It has to run a couple hours break in before the computer will allow it full throttle. I'll post how it does
