Lucy,
I have considered this option, and have located a exceptionally clean boat. First, the things I like.
I get to assemble my own engines, install new transmissions and rig the boat myself.
I will have to install a new interior, guages and wiring.
It will need a new Myco trailer.
In the end it will be a fine running, fine looking boat that I can have confidence in and take pride in because of the personal touch.
Now what I don't like.
I will need to take off from work 6 months to do this project. It is that time consuming. And I do not underestimate it. I am sure there are people who could do it faster, but not me, I hate rushing anything I want right.
6 months pay for me equals 45 to 50K. That is in addition to all the parts and machine work and the purchase price of the boat plus the damn insurance.
I think that is why we do see Apaches for sale that need so much work. When the owner figures out how much it will cost to get the boat right he says screw that it's not worth it. Then puts it up for sale. It is easy to put too much capital in a boat, and never be able to recoup it.
So back to the original gameplan. Shop the Apache market.
Thanks
Ed

I was looking at the way your Apache is constructed. That boat is quality built to last!
Good luck with the new power.

If you can afford it BUY IT, don't ever try and justify any Offshore boat purchase cause IT'S ALL SILLY SH#T!
