My 454 was an HBR motor (at least thats what the valve covers said), and what the guy I bought it from told me. Real quality built. crank was turned m40 r20 and had the wrong bearings in it. Heads used junk performance valves, and chitty seals, and much more.Other than that ran great for 40hrs. till it grenaded

to expensive.out of my league.the 3s are costly enough.the boat weighs 7000lbs with no fuel.3s are sufficient.when i use up all my spare parts i will sell the boat.

how true. But I paid top dollar because I was told It was a fresh motor w/ only break in time on it. Not trying to badmouth anyone because the guy I bought it from may have gotten his hands in it too. Didn't want to come across as their work not being good but its ashamed that someone built a **** motor and it had their name on the valve cover.

Ya I realize that. I guess If you don't screw people over for a living sometimes you get caught offguard thinking someone may actually be telling you the truth. The motor sounded and looked good. Its not like I could ask the guy to pull the motor out and let me drop the pan before I buy it, you know.
