Didn't want to come across as their work not being good but its ashamed that someone built a **** motor and it had their name on the valve cover.

Ya I realize that. I guess If you don't screw people over for a living sometimes you get caught offguard thinking someone may actually be telling you the truth. 
The motor sounded and looked good. Its not like I could ask the guy to pull the motor out and let me drop the pan before I buy it, you know.
