Update** trailer safety sticker in Illinois
#11
Well did a bit more surfing out of boredom at work today since most everyone is gone today
But here it is right off the IL website....you may want to print this out and keep a copy in the truck if you feel like it.
But the jist of it goes like so:
If your truck has a GVWR of over 8000lbs then you need to get a safety sticker. Its not based off the plates but off the trucks registered weight that you can find on the drivers door jamb on most vechicles. And dont think that because you have a 1 ton truck with a B-plate on it they wont get ya. I have found out they have a program in the cop car than can check it on the spot during the stop!
Oh and if your trailer is over 8000lbs then the tow vechicle needs a sticker...doesnt matter what kind of tow vechicle it is it has to have a sticker. So if your towing your old school 30' Scarab with a chevy tahoe....you need a sticker on the truck!
The trailers if over 5000lbs need stickers. period...they dont care if its comercial or personal use...it obvious they want the revenue from it.
The part the sucks is that it needs to be done every 6 months! I cant understand why they wouldnt issue 1yr stickers for those that dont do comercial use with their trailers

Your F-350 should have a "D" plate on it based on the GVW and yes both the truck and trailer need stickers, regardless of what plate is on the truck. Wally's research says this and I know from personal experience.

Glad we don't have to worry about all this crap in Iowa! My boss took a job in IL but left his car registered in IA due to all the stupid stuff he said they wanted to screw him on when trying to reg in IL. Senate seats must not be going for much these days so they need to raise capital some how.

Gee I wonder why IL lost more jobs than any other state. The business owners with a brain are fleeing. Can you imagine what the state is doing to them if they are doing this to you guys. I live in St louis and I try to never go to that state. I hope you cam figure out a good way to get around this. I was thinking of hauling up to Chicago to go boating for a week up there. Not anymore. Thanks for the good info and research.
