Well, I for one like Lake Norman, because within 45 minutes, I can boat with my buddies on Lake Wylie or High Rock lake or Lake Hickory, and within 2 hours be on Lake Hartwell or Lake Murray or Lake Greenwood in S.C. or can be on Lake Lanier in 3 1/2 hours which is a beautiful lake. We also have access to a short drive to Charleston, Savannah, and Jacksonville. Who could ask for more. I also have met most of the people that are responding here and they are great. Give em hell Tonto

I am with Steve, I vote for Lake Norman. I am originally from northern Virginia and boated on the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. The water is 200% better here than there and that is all I have to compare with. The water on Lake Norman is regulated by Duke Power who lower it in the winter months and raise in the spring for summer. Sorry for my earlier post, I just am sick and tired of all the bashing that takes place on here. I would very much like to visit some of the lakes in the Carolina's, I've heard nothing but great things about these lakes. I have been on Hartwell a bit, but that's about as far as I have gone.
