Default Header discoloration

I had my first season with exhaust headers on stock merc 525's. Sucked some seaweed and both motors got hot. Nothing serious, shut down before alarms went off. The top of both header sets now are discolored, slight purple haze, I'm told from the heat.

Is there any way to remnove the discoloration?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
