2 questions:
Does a 525 normally run on the rich side? Transom getting blackened a little bit.
Bigger issue: Depth finder has power but not working. Sensor or something??? Really need to have that thing going especially with our low water levels this time of year. Thx...

Re: 2 questions:
It was normal for some of the early 525's to be on the rich side. If you can rev the engine in neutral over 1500 rpm you have the old PCM. If it stops reving at 1500 rpm (like a rev limiter) you have the newest PCM. As far as the depth sounder, listem to the transducer and see if it is clicking. If it is the head is probably bad. If the transducer in the hull isnt making a sound or clicking noise the transducer may be bad.
Hope this helps.

Re: 2 questions:
The engine should be an 04, it was repowered once. the rev limit kicks in at 3k in neutral. More concerned with the depth gauge. Where would I stick my ear to listen for the depth gauge?

Re: 2 questions:
Unsane, sounds like the transducer is loose from the hull. It is located in the step down, in the cabin. There is an inspection hatch on the port side, inside of the step. The transducer is behind that round cover. Clean the transducer and mounting area, and re-attach it. That should fix your problem.
