Default Adding headers to a 502 efi

I'm getting ready to replace my stock manifolds with a set of KE's. MY question is do I actually have to get the computer upgrade done? Or can I get away with adding an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? Only reason I'm wanting to cheap out is because next year I'm going to be upgrading my computer and adding a supercharger.

Engine is a 98 502 mag efi and the only thing done to it is I added a billet flame arrestor.

Thanks
Frank

I would try with the fuel pressure first for a baseline.
