I don't hear of too many guys doing mods to a naturally aspirated 454 and then dyno testing and posting the info much anymore so, just FYI, about 4 years ago my cousins naturally aspirated 454's were punched .030", did a bore notch job on the cylinders, 830cfm Holley, on a dual plane intake manifold, 8.6 cr, 32* of timing, large oval port GM junk good for nothing heads that had larger 2.19" intake valves and 1.85" exhaust valves in stalled and were bowl ported by JimV with flat tappet hydraulic Comp Cams 218*/224* on 110* lobes.
On Tom Earhart's dyno with tubular dyno headers and they made something like 461hp @5100rpm and 510 lbs of torque at about 3400rpm and stayed flat to about 5000rpm. Even with doing all tho$e mod$ to the cheap GM heads he used it was a fun project with those 454's.
He runs GIL exhaust manifolds in the boat with DRY jacketed tailpipes all the way out/through the transom. He went to a larger 25" pitch 3-bladed prop and it picked up 10mph in his midrange crusing speed alone and the boat (32' 1988 Baja) does 70mph on the GPS so far....still testing with props, etc, yet. For whatever reasons that may be, I thought this info may possibly be beneficial to you.
