How often should I change the plugs and wires on a 500EFI? The boat is a 2000. I bought it used and there is no evidence that this type of maintainance has ever been done. Also if I need to change them what wires and plugs should I go with? The engine has 170 hours on it.

Thanks,

Mike

I tell my customers do plugs once a year. After the fog gets run through it will sometimes burn into the plug. The wires I would do now. Depending upon if there was ever anything sprayed on them, 3-5years is a good lifetime for plug wires. Stick with the Mercury wires, they fit and they are very adequate for the application.
