Verify My Oil Plumbing Please - w/pics!
Hey Guys:
I think I got it, but to be sure, can you take a looksy at my oil plumbing? I’m piecing a 496 stroker longblock together.
I picked up an older Gil/Savage 10”X4” oil cooler from Knot-Right. It came with the oil cooler, the integrated filter pad, and a remote filter mount (remote oil filter mount to rear head).
The cooler itself is self-contained, and the filter pad can only be mounted one way/position on my Mark IV block.
Since the filter pad can only be mounted in a correct position, I think it’s an easy route, but check it out please.
Do I have it right?
Thanks in advance
Here are the snapshots:
----------------------------------------------------------
All the equipment; Gil Oil Cooler, Filter Pad, Remote Oil Filter head, SS lines
Closer shot of the oil filter pad and remote oil filter head (with string thru the inlets to show oil passages):
Schematic of oil flow, and how I will plumb my lines (I think???, this is where I need your help):

Without ever having seen the setup you have, I'm not sure which piece goes where, but if you remember that from the block, Outter fiting=out, inner fiting = in, you are good.
with a traditional cooler/filter setup, the outer line from the block adapter goes to the in side of the filter. then to the cooler. The line from the cooler back to the block goes to the inner (center) fitting

Thanks Duke - the cooler is a block mount type, and all the parts are shown, maybe another pic to see what I'm talking about.
Green goes from the block, thru the oil cooler, to the in on the filter.
Red goes from filter, thru out on filter, back up to the block?

based on the last picture, you show the green line with oil coming out of the block on the outside, and going into the filter on the outside. Thats correct. Then you show the red line of oil coming out of the filter from the middle, which is also correct, and going back into the motor through the center, whcih is also correct.
