Default 525 EFI Dyno Help

We are going to be running a stock 525 EFI on the dyno next week and need some help with the setup.

Can we run standard dyno headers (dry)?

How do we wire the fuel pump, ignition and ECU? (from the standard plug?)

Anything else we should consider?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Dave

The motor has not run run in a while, so before we put it in the boat, we would like to run it. No modifications have been done to the motor.

STOCK 525 EFI.

I don't see the dyno providing much value on a stock Mercury package. If you know and trust the seller, just put it in the boat and put Merc's scan on the engine. This seems like a waste of time and $ to confirm it runs and the HP/torque curve.

What part don't you get? This motor IS going on the dyno and it WILL be run before it gets installed in the boat. PERIOD...If you were writing the check for the dyno and my time, you could have an opinion....Are you (writing a check)? It's my waste, not yours. I'm not here to justify to you why or to start a debate. Simple question that needs to be answered.

There is more to the story, which will not be shared here.

If you don't know the answer to my question, then stay away.

Anyone else?

Thanks,
Dave

You can run the standard dyno headers. The numbers will be a little inflated and A/F may not be exactly right. Make sure all wiring and hoses are clear since they will get very hot whereas the marine exhaust does not.

Just hook all your battery and ground leads up. Find the purple wire in the harness(don't remember which pin it is). Connect 12v to it (simulates turning on the key) and everything should work. If you have wiring from the dyno switches connect the start lead to the small yellow/red on starter relay and run the power lead to the purple wire.

The 525's have a special bolt pattern for the headers. Mercury had CMI make the headers for their bolt pattern. You could put the car headers on but you can only use 1 bolt per port and you will get a exhaust leak but for a short test you can do it. If you look at a Merc manuel it will show you the #'s in your round canyon plug to put 12 volts, a ground, and your ignition wire and that's all you need.

Thanks Tyler for the input.

We may have to change our program here...I think we are going to send it back to Merc for a freshen-up. From what I've seen, I think it's going to need it. We want to run SVL, so it needs to be re-sealed. If we decided to run OPA it would be alright, but like I said, there are a few OSS races we'd like to get to!

Thanks again!

Dave
