Hull Prep
I realize there are differences between racers and everyday boats. In general, what's the feeling regarding bottom prep, using polishing and sealant, wax? It's always been my experience that a smooth hull bottom is faster, but not a scientific method for sure.
I see the racing boat's hulls and they look pretty shiny.

Many race boats have a lightly sanded area from the transom up a few feet (depending on length) in a triangular pattern. It's for that last tiny bit of speed. .....Not needed in a recreational boat at all. Keep it polished and waxed, and puurdyy. Better for the gel coat in the long run.
