IMCO Lower on a Nordic Rage
Does anyone have any experience with IMCO lowers on a Nordic Rage? I am wondering if a standard length or -1 shorty would be beneficial on an 80+ Rage. I just picked up an XR upper and am looking for the best option for the lower. The hull has a step, pad, and notched transom.
Thanks,
Jon

Yes it does have a standard length lower.
I think that the better question is: what is your propshaft depth to keel measurement?
Mine was set at 3.5 inches from bottom of keel to propshaft centerline from the factory. I did testing with a 1" and then 1.5 inch spacer and found that my boat was faster with the 1.5 inch spacer. This brings my keel to propshaft measurement to 5". My boat is an open bow, and needs the extra bow lift.
When I got my boat, the fastest it would go was 77mph.
It now does 81.5 mph.
Same prop

P.S. There is a lot of info on this in the Nordic forums, lower down, this site.

Thanks Guys,
I've searched the Nordic form and have found lots of info on Heats and generic talk about IMCO's, but really am looking for a first hand experience with my suggested combination.
Don't want to duplicate someone else experiment if I don't have to.
Knowing the X would be a good start. I'll measure that over the weekend.

Jon,
Bob Loyd should have some information on this. He rigged Instigator's 900HP Rage, and I am pretty sure it had an Imco lower on it. He probably hasn't seen your inquiry in general Q&A. Ask on our forum and he will probably be able to give you the info you are looking for.
As I recall the boat was smokin' fast (they brought it to LY's East Coast LC Regatta), but took some driving over 90. Not surprising with 900+HP in a 25'er of course .......

You want a fast Rage; Try this one... 114.1 and still playing around
I'll post this over on the Nordic section as well.
