ICDEDPPL, who is "*****bear" and why would they lock your pcm? Lol, seriously tho all this info is great, I can't wait to find a tuner here that is halfway decent and try the hp tune on it. I work at a full service auto repair shop, but we also do a lot of custom stuff and build high performance diesels, and all my coworkers drive built duramaxes & Powerjokes, so I just love watchin them replace head gaskets and injectors all day long, while I pull just add much as they do with gas! For you guys with the 8.1 2500hd's....Chassis wise how does you guys run? Is it quiet or alot of rattles? I have a 03 that was kind of mistreated with 100k miles and I don't like how it drives. Big difference from my 06 f150 screw. I know that they are 2 different classes of truck but I thought the HD would ride better. In the chevys defense it was sitting for 3 years without running. I convinced myself to keep the chevy because it is suposed to be the real deal for towing (even though my f150 tows my boat perfectly) but I am a little bit weary on throwing $ at it suspension wise. The usual...shocks, bushings etc. One thing...the engine purrs like a kitten and the transmission is fine....I notice a little wine though.
I wont lie though....this tuning thing got me a little curious.
Any comments or advice?

Big difference between:
8.1L Allison or ZF 6 Manual in HD truck platform...
... and 8.1L with 4 Speed Auto in Suburban 2500, Avalanche 2500, Yukon 2500.
Totally different frames, platforms, components, etc.
3.73 vs. 4.10 axle ratio is a big variable, but there are hundreds of others when it comes to gas mileage. This is almost a silly topic to discuss.
I've posted a LOT on this in the past. Do a search on my old posts and Avalanche 2500. With a handful of low cost mods (few hundred dollars); you can drastically improve their towing performance.
I loved my 2002 Avalanche 2500 with 8.1L/4speed auto.
I now have a beater truck, a 2004 Silverado 2500HD with 8.1L/Allison; and love it. It's well used, but I'm actually looking for one with fewer miles to maybe even make a daily driver hot rod.

As for your 2500, if the shocks, bushings, and what not are original, replacing them will go a long way as far as the ride quality. The stock shocks are crap anyhow.
