Question Skater question

I am thinking about buying 28 Skater. Anyone running this boat with inboard engine or all use outboard? What do you think which version I should take? What Speed could I expect with two 130 OB or with a 502EFI and Bravo? Which would better handling? Thankfull for any input on that theme.

as far as i knew the only 28 skater with i/os was TIMUCINS. He is here on the board. I don't think skater ever made them with I/Os.

So if you do get one with I/Os find out who did the conversion and carefuly inspect the quality of the work. And remember that the boat wasn't really designed to run with big block power. SO handling might be kind of whacky.

here I am!

himm last year I had single 502 in 28.But my engine was not very healty but it ran around 80's.I think with a healty 400hp inboard you should run around 90-95.

this year I have installed twin 522 cu in. and tested the boat once but the steering system went of and we did not have chance to go fast.

I am still waiting my as£hole-boat builder to finish the canopie; then I can tell you how it reacts at hi-speeds

my advice: 28 is not the best choice for inboard in speed-point of view.But looks and sounds cool.

I hope my boat will finish in two weeks ,will keep you informed ,if interested;

here are some pics.

Hi timucin,
thank you for Your input. Just came back from Turkey I think we have the same boatbuilder. I talked to Josef during the Izmir race and he offered me building a boat. Maybe You can shoot me a pm with your phone # so that I can call you for a few skaterquestions. But keep me updated how your skaterproject is going on I am very interested.

hi;
no not the same boat builder.Josef is the best-most friendly-coolest marine guy here in Turkey.My boat builder is his X partner Alpay. Reaily an as*hole.I think Josef is also not good with him

check your pm for my phone number.
can call me anytime .hope can help you.

about my boat ; canopy was not done with perfect measures and glass'sss do not fit.tried lots of them ...will remove it but lost my attention on the boat.

It is very hard to find a qualified employee here in Turkey.Thats why I lost too much time and cash for this unfinished project and why I put it to a side for a while...

Yes I know the problems with employes in turkey. I own a small Tourist Company down in Antalya and understand what you mean. I am not ready now to buy a boat I don't know what to buy either a going fast boat like the skater or a pleasure boat with space for sunbathing and a small cabin. If I choose the skater or need any tips I will give You a call.

my friendly advice:
do not buy a performance boat in Turkey.....

more friendly advice:
do not buy a boat in Turkey.....

the most friendly advice:
do not live in Turkey.I am planning to move to miami come with me...

LOL

ps: all catamaran type boats are called 'skater ' in Turkey.But there are maximum 10 real skaters exist.(most of them are 28')
they copy the real thing but it is very easy to identify.when you come to that point call me ,I explain the differences to you.

Default 28 skater with IO

I believe there was a 24 or 28 canopied Skater made in the early 90's with 750 + horsepower and a 5 or 6 drive. I saw it in Miami. It blew over at about 130.

I had a 28 with 300's, and at 110 the front gets so light it can start to walk on the sponsons. Any positive trim and you can get out the beads and pray. With the weight of one or two IO's on the transom you will have a rainmaker...( like airborne into the clouds and over on your back), get your affairs in order before you go over 100 with this package.
