Question engine winterizing

What is the best way to winterize an engine that is in a boat that is docked in a wet slip. My Uncle asked me to do it for him and I was wondering if there was a way to run the pink RV antifreeze through it without sinking the boat? Is there a hose I can undo and poor it down or is the only way of doing it by removing the drain plugs?

You have a water pump imeller in the lower unit. This should be able to hold back the water. SO you should be able to pull off the hose going into the coolers and then put another one on there that is hooked up to your flush kit with a hose clamp. Not sure if that makes sence. Be carefull removing the hose just in case.

What about when he starts it and the drive impeller starts pumping water into the boat?????

Maybe extend the hose from the water coming in and pump it over the side???

You could probably just drain everything, and then get some of the environmentally friendly auto antifreeze, remove the t-stat and pour it in and never have to fire the engine.

If it stays in a wet slip, then does the water around it freeze????

No, it rarely get's that cold here but it will get below freezing for a few days and stay there in Feb. I went last night and was able to figure it out. I first started the motor to let it warm up so the stat would open and then undid all the water hoses and drain plugs to let out the water. After draining the block, I pored the RV Antifreeze down the hoses until it ran out of all of the drains and then reconnected the hoses and closed the plugs. I am sure that will do it. Thanks guys for the info.
