Prop selection for Baja 272
I am searching the perfect prop for my Baja 272 (454 Mag), till today I tried the following props:
Mirage 23 labbed by Bronson hills (bought used, dont know for what application the prop was labbed for):
5000 rpm, GPS 53 mph (LOTS of slip!!), hardly any speed gains between 4000 and 5000 rpms, blow out in turns, doesnt respond to positive trim (blows out immidiately), forget it...
Bravo 1 22, 4300 rpm 55 mph, good acceleration, good midrange, but boat seems to run too flat and wet (too much sternlift?), excessive trim leads to chine walking...
I heard about the accelerator prop from Houstonprop (Darin, any suggestions?), would that be the ticket?
Thanks for your opinions!

I'm assuming your motor is an MPI (385 hp). If so, your best bet for a stock prop is most likely a 21P Mirage Plus. You can probably swing a 23P Mirage Plus if Darin labs it for you.
Is your current prop a Mirage PLUS or the std Mirage? Regardless, it sounds as if it is pretty screwed up. If it is a Mirage Plus and not damaged to badly, Darin can probably make it work great. If it is a std. Mirage, he will have to tell you what he can do with it.
You may be tempted to try other props, but stick with a Mirage Plus (or Mirage if that is what you have). It is consistently the best prop for single engine Baja's. 4-blades do not work well on these hulls.

The perfect prop?
That's up to you. Each prop, especially a single engine boat reacts differently and will make the boat handle and ride differently. It's important to know what you want out of your boat. Then try different props until you find the one that you like the best. What one person finds to be the best for them may a prop you can't stand.
There is no "one prop fits all". Many of our customers are very willing to give up a couple mph on the top end for improved handling, acceleration, or ride. It's up to you and what you want out of the prop.
If you find a prop you like but maybe has one quality you don't like there are many adjustments that can be made to the prop to change a negative characteristic.
