Which drive?
Currently have a TRS w/tranny & 454/330. Next season I plan on ripping everything out and dropping in a mildly massaged 502. Due to the age of the boat (20 yrs.), I assume I will find rot in the transom and plan to have it rebuilt. As I'll be starting from "new" (no transom hole), what do y'all recommend for a drive set-up? I've seen all kinds of wild stuff lately (surface drives!), but not sure if I need anything that's race-ready (read: $$$). Someone also suggested an outboard bracket w/twin outboards.
Should I keep the ol' reliable TRS?
P.S. - Boat is 25' & 4500 lbs., "Cigarette" type hull.
Thanks in advance,
D. Ocean

well if you have room maybe a ssm3 drive might not be abad idea. It will be damn near bullet proof with low power thru it and you can pick the older drives up for pretty cheap.

I think a #2 speed master is a TRS upper with a speedmaster lower. I would keep the TRS. They are bullet proof. Don't need the SSM on a 25' with a single engine. We have TRS on all our Cigs, never had a problem. my $.02

ssm is gonna be as if not heavier.
eggbeater hanging off standoffs are goign to be worse becasue the weight will be further back. Bravo will move the engine back to the stern as weel becasue of teh lack of a tranny. If you are gonna run a bravo mayeb leave teh engein where its mounted and get a drive shaft custom made. Otherwise you might screw up eth COG on the boat.
Best bet, stick with the TRS.
