Default MSD high vibration coil

Can the msd high vibration coil 8222 be safely used with a stock mercruiser thunderbolt IV ignition system?
Thanks

I need to dig out my MSD technical manual, but I believe it will work, no problem.

A coil is not a coil...some have internal resistors , some require an external resistor or resistive wire.

I think where all the confusion is from, is the fact that certain MSD boxes will not work with certain coils.
The MSD tech book has a chart listing the 5,6 and 7 series MSD boxes and which coils can be used with each.
The HV coil is recommended for each box.

Thanks for the input.
I figured it would be ok,but the msd instructions made me a little cautious by stating you must use a resistor on stock ignitions. Figure they must be refering to points systems. Better safe than sorry ,thats why I asked.

Yes, the resistor is for use on older points systems to keep from burning up the points. Run it.
