Been busy, To address your question, first thing I did was splatter my outdrive
My new outdrive had the side only pickups and the water pressure was ok. Running the marine t-stat only has one small hole in it.Mark

When I purchased my engine, it had a cross over on it already. I had seen many posts on this board that were both pro and con crossovers. Many indicated pressure problems. When I put the engine in, I could not get any temp to register on the guage no matter how hard I ran it. After getting some advice here I installed a 146 degree thermostadt and drilled the holes as Brownie suggested. I also put in a pressure guage and added the Mercury dump valve. The highest pressure I have seen is 25. My temp now runs 150 to 160 when running hard. As far as a horsepower gain, I doubt it would be enough to register 1 MPH on your guage. It really does clean up the front of the engine however.
