My transom mount pickup only has a small triangulated area that extends below the transom maybe 1/4 of an inch, I can't see that slowing you down at all. I had the same issues with my LWP and I smile every time I read these stories cause I hav'nt had any problems sense. I bought mine from Too Old, Trick Marine, killer price, killer Quality and I like giving Fred my money.
