My question is....the OMC shift cable is split into an upper and a lower, meeting at a trunion on the bracket on the block. Can I replace only the upper half, reconnecting the system at the trunion with a threaded fitting? Or, do I need to take it all the way down to the drive?

Rigging the helm won't be a problem.

Thanks!!

Yes, you may even be able to use your original cable-some of the OMC cables have the proper end to connect to the Livorsi. If not you will need the OMC adapter kit for the 3300 style cables. BTW- www.boatfix.com has the best prices on cables, ends, etc. Trick Marine has the best on Livorsi.

You can also have trim in the throttle handle which is really sweet too. The hardest thing might be getting the cables through the hull depending how they ran the original ones. You can get the length off the old cables-usually about a foot from the engine end.
i thought that there is an adapter to convert the cable ends so you don't have to buy new cables ??

Anybody know if Livorsi, or one of the retailers like Doller would walk me through the fitting interconnects to make sure that everything will hook up?

Thanks.

If you buy Livorsi they come with the proper ends to hook to a standard 3300 style cable. You will then need an OMC/Johnson/Evinrude engine end kit that is made by the cable manufacturer. George at boatfix could probably set you straight on the cables and ends, but you will need a cable length for him. That is usually marked about a foot to 24" from the engine end of the cable and may be in inches like 120 for a 10 foot cable.

Thanks again.

Sounds like Boatfix is the next call.

I'll check the cables for markings on Sat when I can access the warehouse.

It also sounds like it isn't gonna be that big of a deal. It would be nice to lose the combo levers.
