Well then alright. Get that 22' Velocity, Join OPA and race with the SOB's. Whats the old saying "Put Up or Shut Up!!!!!" Hope you join into this class as I think it will take some time but will be big in the future. The list goes on and on of how much people have been paying attention to all of this.

Phantom1, there are no "MIDDLE" men when Smitty or I speak,......we're Bubba's body guards! You can call Bubba yourself to get any info if that makes you feel better but when Smitty prints it, it's better than American Express. Now get working on your boat so you can come out and play, have some fun. Augie

Phantom1,

It may have come across that Dennis & I were middle men for OPA.

That was just because we took it upon oursleves to jump start the Single Outboard Boat class.

We took it on as a challenge.

We asked about it becoming a class, OPA said, "Show Us The Boats..."

So we went out on a limb to see just how many people would be interested in racing these type boats. We feel it is the best true entry level and affordable type racing you possibly can do.

With such a great response we had in 3 meetings, not to mention the horrible weather these men went through to get to these meetings as well as travel as far away as Pittsburg, Pa. We knew we were onto something.

So now the class is offered. Dennis and I can step back and watch this class grow along with everyone else.

No need for middle men.

At any given time, anyone can contact Smitty, Augie, Kurt or anyone else from OPA.

All we did was bring them the boats as they asked.

I continue to push this class on the boards, to keep up the excitement, and hope we have a good amount of people signing up.

This whole thing was just something I felt I could do to on my part to try and encourage new racers, and improve the sport of offshore.

I have no personal interest to gain out of this. I just want to see these boats out of the back yards and back out on the course and make this sport grow.

I hope you can join in on the fun as well as spread the word to anyone you may feel would be interested in racing this class.

And lastly, you can take Augie's word to the bank! Then go to the deli.......

Trust me......I applaude the efforts of all of you that have worked so hard.

My original question about John speaking for himself was really meant in general terms, not just his position on SOB's. I have wondered about it for awhile.

You guys obviously know John better than I, so your word is good with me.

Have a great weekend.

I am sure he may read this stuff every now and then.

But he may be better off not getting on here. There is always good and bad when it comes to posting.

Besides, sometimes it is just better to say nothing at all.

You probably won't ever see Kurt from OPA post here either. But I know he occasionally will ask some people what is the hot topic this week...

That is just the choice these two men prefer to make.

They don't want to get all caught up in the Offshore Spin......

They both have enough to do just with putting on races...

I realize with all the variables etc. this can be a VERY open ended question. BUT, what would an AVERAGE SOB cost new? Also, not having ANY experience in this particular style of boat, is a 2.5 efi too much motor or no? Just ASKING! I can see it now, cover story of POWERBOAT..."Joey Imprescia and da Lawn Gisland gang go back to their roots of racin' SOB's on da Great South Bay"

Cool

There are many ways to go about this class. Some options more expensive then others. 2.5, 300x, 2.5 Offshore, Bombardier, Yamaha, etc, etc, etc. Shane follow the rules pages for the class. You will see they are posted to get a better understanding for the class.
