Here is one more. The Mad Mother was raced by the Father & Son team of Fred & Tim Falk. She later went to Ohio and raced as CHEAP THRILLS, & the L. A. Express. Today ????????

The M-588 Charge IT ran 82 mph with it's modified 355cu small blocks, & stock TRS drives. Not bad speeds for 1981.
Raising the drives to the rub-rail on Magnums definitely helped.

Cool pictures

With todays props she would have been faster, and easier to get on plane.

Hydraulic helm, and hydraulic external steering - get the play out of the steering, make thiose drives solid(looseness, if there is any looseness out of the steering). The bottom can handle those speeds, no problem. If the dancing/chine walking gets bad, then blue-print your bottom - four-foot straight edge, get sanding to make it all straight and perfect. At your speed 27" Mirage props may work best; they were
labbed and matched (blue-printed).

That boat will be a great for you, keep working at, my father's ran 81 mph when he first got it and it was wild, but after it was straighened out -steering, props, drive height (we raised the drives), it was an 85 mph/86 mph boat, and very driveable in any water, flat or choppy. Magnums do kick ass!

Don't mention the extra black silicone there...
If you need cooler air into the compartment, I just added these vents to the deck with 4" pipe plumbers to the compartment. Should be more air than I need.

I didn't have a speedo last year, but I was pulling away from a boat that I know runs mid 80's. Still had a bad tune up on the engine and a couple bent valves.

I know the previous owner had it to around 85 or so. Boat supposedly ran over 100 before with 2 nasty small blocks in it.

I too am hoping to make it to the century mark the next time I have it put together.

Now that's what I am talking about, go for it! (100 mph+) That's a hot-rod.
