Back around 1981 the P class Mad Mother ran around 75 mph with 355cu small blocks that had stock cast iron intakes & exhaust. This Mag had a high X dimension with the TRS drives up into the rub rail.
My P-88 Mag ran about 72mph with the same power as the P-61. The TRS drives were not as high and my Mag was heavier.
The M-588 Charge IT ran 82 mph with it's modified 355cu small blocks, & stock TRS drives. Not bad speeds for 1981.

labbed and matched (blue-printed).
That boat will be a great for you, keep working at, my father's ran 81 mph when he first got it and it was wild, but after it was straighened out -steering, props, drive height (we raised the drives), it was an 85 mph/86 mph boat, and very driveable in any water, flat or choppy. Magnums do kick ass!

Hi there,
We have done some minor changes for this year. A new water pickup for the intercooler. Looking for some colder intake air now. We had this year first run yesterday, went out very nice. No WOT, just 4700-4800 rpm and low 80's. Nothing more. Will try go over 100mph....
Don't mention the extra black silicone there...

I didn't have a speedo last year, but I was pulling away from a boat that I know runs mid 80's. Still had a bad tune up on the engine and a couple bent valves.
I know the previous owner had it to around 85 or so. Boat supposedly ran over 100 before with 2 nasty small blocks in it.
I too am hoping to make it to the century mark the next time I have it put together.
