I think what cigarette275 is asking is if he can go with liability only, in that case he would be covered if someone was injured or killed and came after him.
If his boat sinks, burns or is stolen...

I think that same rule can be applied when taking your boat in for any maintenance issue :drink: :drink:

If you own the boat outright you can do whatever you want.
Check to see how it is broken out on your current policy, liability makes up most of my bill.
