FT. Worth Lakes
My daughter recently got married and located to Ft. Worth, TX. My wife and I are considering retiring in the area and want to know what are the best lake experiences and value for the money in a lake property. Lake Travis looks interesting but I admit we know nothing about the area from a hard core boaters perspective.

Small lakes but alot of them. Possum Kingdom Lake 75 miles west of Ft Worth is nice and a place worth going to. Lake house real estate is very expensive here and for the past 5 years the lakes have been the worst. This year they are fine for once but that can change in months especially in Aug. Drought sets in has been the norm. Last year many lakes closed because of drastic flooding 75 to 80 % of the year.
Most lakes are ran by COE and some have alot stumps in certain areas.
I have and had many lake house boat customers in Ft Worth, Granbury, PK and Texoma. Like I said for the past 5 years with poor lake conditions many thoughts were why own a boat in the area. Again so far we are good to go for this year.
Lake Texoma is the place for Sportboats. Located North of DFW boarders TX and OK.

Like BUP said the preferred is Brazos lakes for running distance. Witney ,Possum Kingdom and Grandbury. Close to FW Grandbury is a good option I've boated there my whole life and the area has really grown. If you live there during the week is great but weekends are crowed in the channel. I also recommend Eagle mountain several restaurants and decent cove tie ups but not overly crowded. Eagle Mt is a little on the small side for any lengthy runs but works great for day trips with the family.
